A FOUNDATION IN MEMORY OF MAURICE ALLAIS
TO DEFEND AND PROMOTE THE WRITINGS OF ONE OF THE GREATEST THINKERS OF THE XXTH CENTURY
Message from the Founder
“Following my father’s death in October 2010 I wanted to set up a foundation in his honour, to perpetuate the memory of such a remarkable figure and to spread awareness of the wealth of writings he left us, as a great economist, Nobel prize-winning in 1988, as a great scientist, who also had a passion for physics and was very interested in history.
“The most suitable legal framework for any initiatives undertaken in his memory, and especially for his cherished idea of a Prize, I thought, would be an officially recognized foundation of public utility.
“This was a personal project which I had been thinking about for a long time and was deeply attached to. My intention was to pay tribute to my parents who laboured together over nearly half a century in perfect intellectual symbiosis.
“The ParisTech Foundation, officially recognized as a foundation of public utility dedicated to higher education and research, seemed to be a highly appropriate host for a foundation in memory of a man whose life was devoted to his consuming passion for research and his numerous educational activities.”
Christine Allais, Founder
Message from the President of the ParisTech Foundation
“The Maurice Allais Foundation was the first protected foundation to show its trust in us by placing itself under the aegis of the ParisTech Foundation in 2011, a gesture for which we owe it our gratitude. For it is a privilege we esteem highly to be able to lend our status and facilities to a foundation established in memory of a great man, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, whose works have lost none of their influence in the world of learning. As a graduate of both the École polytechnique and the École des Mines, Maurice Allais is also an outstanding representative of the academic excellence of the institutes of higher learning which today comprise the ParisTech consortium. By perpetuating the memory of Maurice Allais, the Maurice Allais Foundation is helping to widen the influence of French higher education and thus displaying its union with the values and mission of the ParisTech Foundation.”
